Digital transformation in business

Today, technology, disruption and new digital environments have become an obligation for all those who want to stay alive in a context that will change continuously. In the case of companies, this new era translates into two essential words: digital transformation, a natural change that is only beginning in an environment where technological disruption is going to take over, companies, regardless of their size, have only two options: digitally transform or disappear. Technological progress is growing by leaps and bounds at a slower pace. The rise of artificial intelligence to recent dates has become more relevant, robotics, IOT, (internet of things) and virtual reality. The US consulting firm Gartner highlights the main technological trends that will have the greatest impact on the corporate sector in 2018. Some of these, to a greater or lesser degree disruptive are beginning to have repercussions on companies. "Technology managers must take these trends into account in their innovation strategies or run the risk of losing ground to those who do," said David Cearley, VP of Gartner. Because artificial intelligence and machine learning models have evolved rapidly; companies are starting to base part of their business on this side, which is becoming an important pillar in the decision-making process. The creation of systems that learn, adapt and potentially act autonomously will be a great battleground for technology manufacturers until at least 2025 when these are consolidated. "Artificial Intelligence techniques are evolving rapidly and organizations will have to invest significantly in improving their skills, their industrial processes and in order to achieve tools to successfully exploit this technology," says Cearley.

Based on the study, in the coming years virtually all applications and services will incorporate some level of Artificial Intelligence. The challenge will therefore be to use it to add business value. On the other hand, the arrival of 5G will give way to the consolidation of IoT or "Internet of Things," ie the connection of electronic objects to communicate with each other. Thanks to this technology will be able to interact more naturally with the environment, modifying the human-machine relationship, thus an energy efficiency which translates into a more sustainable business. This technological revolution has only just begun, opening the way to the origin of a "digital twin", which refers to the digital representation of an entity or system of the real world, ie a virtual model identical to the product or space we want. These "digital twins", in the context of smart projects, will be very necessary in the next three years. Well defined, they will have the potential to achieve better and more efficient decision making within the company, creating products from the virtual world. "E-commerce companies, health services or digital strategy departments will be able to benefit from this long-term change to the integrated digital twin world." A few years ago, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (RA) appeared on the scene, with which companies should examine specific real-life scenarios in which they can be applied and make employees more productive improve design and visualization processes. In addition to this technological evolution, it must be taken into account that for a successful digital transformation, there must be a collaboration between the teams, planning and the involvement of all the people of the organization. This is not only a change of mentality, it is also necessary to carry out an automation of the processes, so that the equipment can be more agile and more productive.
